A native of Anaheim, California, Emmy winning composer Don Davis began playing trumpet and piano at the age of nine, and started writing music at twelve.

After graduation from UCLA, Davis continued to study composition with Henri Lazarof and orchestration under Albert Harris. With his foot in the door of the music industry, Davis began to land an increasing number of high-profile jobs, including on television favorites “Hart to Hart” and “Beauty and the Beast.” To date, Don Davis’ television work had garnered eight Emmy nominations and two wins.

In 1997, Davis composed the score for the Wachowski’s off-beat thriller “Bound,” and the directing siblings immediately formed a close working relationship with Davis The Wachowskis and Davis again collaborated on “The Matrix” trilogy – the high-tech, virtual-reality action thriller starring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne, which turned out to be not only one of the biggest blockbusters, but one of the best-received films of the year.

His full-length three-act opera “Río de Sangre” premiered in October, 2010 at the Florentine Opera Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The full production included 10 principals with a 40 voice choir and an 11-piece stage ensemble, accompanied by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra conducted by Joseph Rescigno.

To date, Davis has been commissioned to write four pieces for The Debussy Trio, “No Exit,” “Slam Ahead,” “Til Human Voices Wake Us” and “False Conclusions” (part of the suite “Celebration).
